Le vrai monde de Narnia / the true Narnia world
Connaissez-vous le "monde de Narnia"? Au départ le monde de Narnia est un univers fantastique, créé par C.S.LEWIS, où il a situé sept romans du cycle Les chroniques de Narnia, dont les héros sont des enfants. Les aventures qu'ils traversent sont en fait une allégorie du christianisme, avec un Lion qui sauvera les héros en mourant, puis en ressuscitant.
En 2004, les studios Walt Disney, avec leur talent habituel, ont fait un film à partir du deuxième volume de la série*. Amateur enthousiaste de l'oeuvre de C.S.Lewis depuis sa jeunesse, mon mari a profité de la sortie du film pour initier nos petits enfants qui, depuis lors ont regardé le DVD des dizaines de fois et connaissent les répliques par coeur.
Le film commence lorsque quatre enfants, frères et soeurs, pénétrent dans une armoire magique qui les propulse dans le monde de Narnia. Autrefois paisible, ce pays magique peuplé de nains et de géants est aujourd'hui congelé par la maléfique Sorcière Blanche. Les enfants parviendront avec l'aide du lion Aslan à détruire la malédiction. Le lion meurt pour épargner la vie des héros puis ressuscite pour remporter le triomphe.
Pourquoi est-ce que je vous raconte ceci?
Pour vous répondre, je dois d'abord ouvrir une petite parenthèse: notre charmante voisine vient de faire une croisière autour de la Méditerranée. Parmi ses escales, il y a eu la Turquie d'où elle nous a rapporté une boîte d'excellent lokoums.
Dès que notre petit-fils de 5 ans a vu la boîte, il s'est écrié : "Oh, des lokoums du pays de Narnia!" En effet à un moment du film la sorcière propose des lokoums en tout point semblables à ceux de la boite.
Voyant que notre petit Eddy y croit dur comme fer, je me fais un devoir de lui expliquer : "Tu sais, Eddy, le pays de Narnia n'existe pas en vrai. C'est un conte!"
Et lui de me répondre tout de go : "Il n'existe peut-être pas, mais la voisine y est allée!"
Du coup j'ai décidé de ne pas le décevoir. N'avais-je pas le rare privilège de posséder une boite de lokoums tout droit venus du pays de Narnia?
Pour apporter une conclusion au point de croix à cette histoire, je vous propose en fin d'article une grille rapide inspirée du lion Aslan. Elle peut plaire à vos enfants.

Do you know the "world of Narnia"? At the beginning it is a fantastic universe created by C.S.LEWIS, in which he places the adventures lived by four children, along seven novels. In fact their adventures are an allegory of Christianity with a lion saving the heros when he dies, and later he rises again. The whole saga is called The Chronicles of Narnia . It's placed in a land of wonder and enchantment called Narnia, and since then over 60 million readers have discovered the wondrous world that exists beyond the back of the wardrobe.
Narnia is a creation of the great lion Aslan, who sings it into existence as a reflection of his own world in "The Magician's Nephew." Narnia has kings and queens, wicked witches, magic and talking animals that live in furnished houses and behave like people. It's a cool, forested land, and after the death of the White Witch and the end of the Long Winter, its climate becomes mild and temperate. In 2004 the Walt Disney studios made a first movie inspired by the second book of the saga The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe*. As my husband for 40 years has been a fan of C.S.Lewis's works that he read all, he took the opportunity of the mowie to introduce our grand children to the story. Since then they watched the DVD dozens of times, and they know most of the words by heart.
Although Aslan is certainly the most powerful being within Narnia, he is not exactly its ruler. The kings and queens of Narnia are Sons of Adam and Daughters of Eve -- that is, humans. All humans in Narnia either come directly from our world or are descended from people from our world. Children find their way there with magic rings and through doorways, wardrobes and paintings. Narnians and Aslan himself have also used magic to summon children.
Why do I tell you that? Before answering this question I must let you know that our gentle neighbour, a widow, just made a cruise around the Mediterranean sea. Among the ports of call, there was Turkey, from where she brought us a box of delicious lokoums.
As soon as our grand son saw the box, he said "O! lokoums from the world of Narnia!" In fact there is a time in the mowie when the witch offers lokoums looking exactly the same than those in our box. I must say you that our grand son is just 5 years old this month. As he really seemed convinced of the fact that the lokoums were coming from Narnia, I began to explain to him : "You know, my little Eddy, the world of Narnia doesn't exist! It's just a tale;"
Immediately he retorted : "It may not exist, yes, but the neighbour went there!"
After this I didn't try to break his dream any more, as his grand parents had the unique priviledge ot own lokoums from the very world of Narnia!
