This border is inspired by the traditional designs on linen in Alsace in the past. You could find them on tea towels and on something which was used to hide the teatowels. For this prupose a special embroidered or cross stitched tea towel was hung to a shelf against the wall. Behind this towel, there were hooks against the wall to which the used towels were hung. So nobody could see them when they were unclean. In country style cross stitch the designs are very stylised usually as you can notice here with the grapes and the leaves. The matchbox was kept on the shelf.
The two last lines on the right of the first chart are the same the two first lines on the left of the second chart.
